A New Year, New Beginnings, & best laid plans... 😅
You were scheduled to receive the next edition of The Future Normal yesterday. I'd planned to reflect on the holiday period by asking, 'What if you could embrace throwaway culture?'
But then life got in the way.
Instead of arriving in 2 weeks as 'scheduled', I was in the operating theatre at 4am with my wife as she gave birth to our daughter. I won't use this opportunity to gush about the miracle of life (although yes, I'm feeling all of that)...
But as well as the wonderful surprise of an early (but thankfully healthy new arrival), we've also had to throw out all our post-birth plans as we are now in isolation after a nearby patient returned a positive covid test :(
Which means I'm sole caregiver for my heroic wife, newborn daughter, and our two-year old toddler. Without any of the physical support network that we'd anticipated. Yes, I know many/most people faced similar, or indeed farworse pressures during 2020, but it's both intense and bonding at the same time 😅
Wish me luck (!), and I look forward to bringing you more installments from The Future Normal in a couple of weeks when we're able to regain some semblance of our New Normal!
Thanks for your patience. Stay safe. And I hope your 2021 is off to a similarly beautifully chaotic but inspirational start! 🙌
